The Safer Internet Forum 2007 will be composed of three workshops and a plenary session for discussing relevant issues with stakeholders. The Forum is open to all interested and will take place on Wednesday 20 June and Thursday 21 June 2007. Participants include representatives of industry, law enforcement authorities, child welfare organisations and policy makers.
On 20 June, three workshops will focus respectively on:
- Online-related sexual abuse of children, in particular grooming
- Assessing the need for awareness-raising for creating a safe online environment for children
- The impact and consequences of convergence of online technologies for online safety.
On 21 June, the first half-day is devoted to summarizing the workshops, presenting preliminary results of the public consultation as well presenting the Safer Internet plus Work Programme and Call for Proposals 2007 (InfoDay). The second half-day will be devoted to giving structured information around specific actions open in the Call 2007.
The purpose of the Safer Internet Forum 2007 is to contribute to improving the common understanding of Safer Internet and online technologies issues at European level as well as feeding into the process of assessing whether to propose a follow-up programme to the Safer Internet plus Programme.
