The Association of ISPs in Austria and the Austrian Internet Service Providers themselves, have drawn up and agreed a Code of Conduct for ISPs for the treatment of spam. The rationale for these general rules of conduct is to give individual ISPs, within the scope of existing laws, clear guidelines for dealing with spam, in respect of their private and business customers, other ISPs, courts, authorities and other third parties, in order to effectively combat spam without thereby restricting their customers’ rights.
