Germany: ARD/ZDF-Onlinestudie 2008

The current survey ARD/ZDF-Onlinestudie 2008 announced, that 42,7 millions (65,8%) in Germany are internet users – that means a growth of 1,9 millions from the previous year (62,7%). The German adults spend more and more time in the net: on average 58 minutes a day (in 2007: 54 minutes).

The 14- to 19- years old young people are on average 120 minutes a day online - especially they like multimedia applications like online videos. The Internet becomes more and more an entertaining medium – particularly for the youths. Furthermore the communication of the teenagers redeploys more and more to Web 2.0 applications. That implies more and new measures in the areas of digital literacy and youth protection in the Internet.

The ARD/ZDF-Onlinestudie is a nationally representative survey, which interviews 1.800 Germans from the age of 14 years. The complete results of the survey can be found under www.ard-zdf-onlinestudie.de.
