Social Networking sites endanger privacy

German study conducted by Fraunhofer Institute for Secure Information Technology SIT

Fraunhofer study reveals that protection of privacy at online community platforms is insufficient. Whether it is private or business, more and more people are connected through online community platforms where they set up a personal profile. Social community platforms demand of their customers within the registration procedure many private data without providing appropriate measures to protect them from unwanted access. This is the result of a study conducted by the German Fraunhofer Institute for Secure Information Technology, which has researched the most popular online community platforms for private and business issues. Apart from detailed results, the study provides advice how to protect personal data within those kind of platforms.

The Fraunhofer Institute for Secure Information Technology SIT is the leading expert for IT Security and develops solutions for immediate use, geared to the customer's needs. The study is available in German language here.
