ARD magazine discovers child pornography in Second Life

The ARD policy magazine REPORT MAINZ discovered child pornography in the popular online game 'Second Life'. A German participant in the online world tried to deal with recordings of child pornography. The state prosecutor's office in Halle has launched an investigation and identified the suspect already.
There is a number of user groups in Second Life whose members were abusing childlike figures for money. Linden Lab, the operator of the online world, has announced that they carry out an investigation to find out, who is hidden behind these events. In addition, an age verification system will be implemented when users register for the game to prevent young people from having access to certain areas of the virtual world.
