The European Commission claimed that sales of violent video games should be forbidden to minors. The labelling system for dangerous games has to be beefed up to better protect children.
The European Commission wants EU retailers to intensify controls and apply a voluntary code of conduct within the next two years in order to successfully prevent the purchase of dangerous video games by minors. Viviane Reding, Information Society Commissioner, stated at at a conference that it is not permitted to sell pornography to children, consequently it should be also forbidden for violent video games.
