"YPRT - Youth Protection Roundtable" was a project of the Digital Opportunities Foundation in 2006 - 2009.

The overall purpose of YPRT is to encourage a collaborative and cross-sector dialogue focusing on the optimal mix of effective technology-enhanced strategies on the one hand and education-based strategies on the other hand to enable youth – and responsible adults in the case of minors – for a safe and secure use of the Internet considering the various cultural backgrounds of European countries. This will be achieved by setting up a thematic network in strong cooperation with partners from all European regions and Insafe, the network of the National Awareness Nodes in the Safer Internet Programme. This will ensure that the best results emerging from the activities within the Safer Internet Plus programme will be taken into account by the Youth Protection Roundtable´s work. In addition the YPRT will involve national welfare organisations in the strong and robust outreach strategy of the project and will thus multiply the results of the Roundtable´s work in as many European countries as possible.

YPRT will not only address the issue of threats connected with the use of the Internet, but will also address the perception that not every product developed for the online world is intended for the use by children. New findings that emanate quite naturally during the Safer Internet Plus Programme's actions will be taken into account thus contributing to the dissemination of a broad range of knowledge and expertise that will help to advance the European Information Society.
